we allow one another

we allow one another
to explode
like supernovas
to gauge the distance
from which we have
grown – and still,
the detonation
catches us
off guard,
reminds us of how
strong we have become
in each other’s light
.

thank you for your reads and responses, William! i saw the news on Type 1a supernovas last night and – like with all things space-related – saw the similarities between supernovas and human behavior. we can measure the depth of relationships to one another when pushed to contention, and harsh words are used. at the same time, the strength of detonations are fueled by how much we’ve given and allowed one another. hope that makes sense.
