the words christmas in the
has a way of slicing
through time
, parting
the fruit always
so that there is room
enough for you and i
to lean in, identify
and claim
each fibrous memory

I am envious of this poem. I have been trying to write a Christmas poem for weeks, but nothing comes of the effort. Then I read this! Perfect, not trite, full of language that slices away the tinsel and gets to the heart of who we, as humans, are at this season. Wow!
