there is no rule
to blocking nor
permitting
each other’s
earnest advances –
love is mostly
stupid, a catalytic
tumble, an
imperfect spell

In your hands, in your sphere, love
like death, shines like a swarm of
fireflies that keeps our attention,
dazzles us, touches us, entertains
and teaches us. Your poet’s voice
is distinct, clear, penetrating.
And I am here to say that love,
unlike youth, is not wasted only
on the young.
Lovely.
thank you, and welcome, Dean!
