on day 105, we pulled out

on day 105, we pulled out
the cliché of
faded photographs
and pretended
that the clear
could protect
us from our most
recent shedding, that
it would be a strong
enough barrier to
grief. for an entire
morning, we could
not even finish
the first of
eight solid albums, our
pickup suddenly
so worn

Another sterling effort, Y. I like the lines
    /the cliche of/faded photographs/ for as
    much as peering at old images can be nostalgic, at some point it is as bitter as it is sweet;
those baby pictures of you and others, but then
the emotional stirrings of those images of those we have lost. What inspired naivete to hope that a
    clear sheath/ could ever be a /barrier/to grief/.
