saved for a rainy day

saved for a rainy day
or the glue that keeps us together
.
we prayed for clear skies
and the rain came anyway
this month-long puzzle

Are prayers answered? Does prayer work, in English, in Hebrew, in Farsi, in Chinese? A poet’s inquiry for the ages. In war, God is on one side, then the other; both sides at once as the butchering continues, the winnowing commences. Yet we need to feel there is something larger than us out there, dangling, listening, don’t we; even though praying for sun can bring the rain. /this month-long puzzle/ is life long, my dear; life long.
