it takes two to not

it takes two to not
look at each other –
one to spin
the yarn, and
one to knit the
illusion, at the
very least, three-
ply, twisted.

it takes two to not
boil the water – one
to turn the burner
on, and one to turn it
right off, two to not
look at each other –
no tea, no stirring
for conversation.

it takes two to stop
breaking down –
one to spin
the yarn, and
one to knit the
illusion, two to not
boil the water, no tears
humming on the
burner, no whistle
screaming for release

y, you did it again. It amazes me that you write great and powerful poems one after another after another. I love how you tied the whole poem together at the end. And the teapot image is so perfect. Wow again. You write so well about the complexities of relationships. Pearl

thank you, Pearl. sometimes i go for months feeling blocked and empty. even though it’s a good feeling to write, the majority of these past few days’ fare come as a result of painful adversity.

I’m sorry the past while has been difficult for you and I hope things get happier for you. However, you are writing beautiful words. Pearl

thank you, Pearl. i know that sadness happens to everyone, at one time or another, so i can’t really complain (smile). nor do i like to “work” for sympathy. it just happens, like suddenly tearing, but both crying and venting is healthy, right? (smile)
